Yoga therapy may be applied for various needs: physical rehabilitation due to injury, for a physical handicap or illness, mental or emotional rehabilitation or both. The individual is observed in it's entirety and a coherent plan is then established to gradually come back to inner peace, help bring back health, so that healing can occur.
The yoga therapist is not a doctor, doesn't diagnose and doesn't replace medical treatment prescribed by specialist. The yoga therapist properly skilled and trained will rather work coherently and jointly with the medical professionals orbiting around the person, hence adding a magnificent holistic complement to any medical process already underway if such is the case.
Yoga can be a great ally to help sustain and maintain harmony between the various systems within the body, which is an important step toward any rehabilitation process, whether physical, mental or emotional. A specifically adapted practice will enhance quality of sleep, contribute to boost immune response, the ability to self-heal and mostly develop a positive outlook. On the other hand, we will experience a significant reduction in stress levels, muscular tensions, pain and anxiety, to only name a few.
The yoga therapist will craft a plan that is concrete, realistic and that will properly fit with your current lifestyle. A follow up allows to check progression and gradually adapt the plan according to the natural evolution of health.
Yoga therapy is different than yoga classes. Yoga therapy is practiced by a therapist qualified and certified to do so. The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) is the only international establishment that certifies yoga therapists. They set vigorous and strict criteria in order to maintain quality in this special branch of yoga, which also helps customers select a recognized practitioner.
Hence, a yoga teacher is not necessarily a yoga therapist, even if obviously any yoga teacher can offer private classes. To be certified yoga therapist, one needs to successfully complete 1000 hours in a single yoga therapy training (not cumulative from various schools) that spans over a minimum of two years. To undergo such a specialized training, one must already be a you teacher with an initial minimum of 200 hour training plus a minimum 125 hours of teaching experience after having obtained the basic diploma. s.
By choosing Aloha Yoga for your yoga therapy needs, you can be assured that you will be working with a certified professional who is recognized by peers internationally.
Yoga therapy sessions are done in private or in small groups. In cases of small groups, it must be a group of people who are living with the same condition, pathology, dysfunction or need. An appointment is set according to your availability as well as the therapist's. There are available schedules during the week. Each session lasts an hour.
